1976 Olympic 110 Meter Hurdles Champion
The Olympic silver medalist in 1972, Drut was ranked number one in the world by Track & Field News in both 1975 and 1976. Drut won the European Championship in 1974, and captured the gold medal in Montreal. He also held the world record of 13.0 seconds. Drut is currently a member of the International Olympic Committee, although he was suspended in 2005 when he was serving jail time in France for accepting fictitious jobs for political patronage.
