2000 Olympic Champion Fours without Coxswain
Foster won two gold medals at the 1987 World Junior Championships and won his first senior medal with a bronze medal in the eight. He won a bronze medal in the four at the 1996 Olympics and won the 1997 World Championship with Matthew Pinsent, Steven Redgrave and James Cracknell. The same foursome won the World Championships again in 1998. A hand injury caused Foster to miss the 1999 Worlds, but he was back in the boat to win the Olympic gold in 2000 in Sydney. Injuries stymied his chances of returning to the Olympics in 2004. Foster finished his career with two Olympic and seven World Championship medals.
