1972 Olympic 1500 Meter Champion
At the 1968 Olympics in Grenoble, 16-year-old Holum won a silver medal at 500 meters and a bronze in the 1000. In 1972 she captured gold at 1500 meters and silver in the 3000. Holum was the bronze medalist in the All-Around at the 1967 and 1972 World Championships. She won bronze at the 1971 World Sprint Championships and the silver in 1972. She later coached Eric Heiden to five gold medals at the 1980 Olympics. Her daughter Kirstin skated at the 1998 Olympics.
