Three Time World Record Holder in the Pole Vault
European silver medalist in 1969 and 1971, Isaksson set three world records in 1972. He vaulted 5.51 meters on April 8th in Austin, Texas; improved to 5.54 one week later in Los Angeles and on June 6th he vaulted 5.55 meters in Helsingborg, Sweden. He was ranked number one in the world despite not qualifying for then final at the Olympics due to the I.A.A.F. ban of the Cata-Pole with which he had set his world records. Isaksson qualified for the final, but failed to clear a height at the 1976 Olympics.
