Widely regarded as the greatest women's softball player of all-time, Joyce led teams to 13 national championships as she posted a career amateur record of 507-33 with a 0.19 E.R.A. She later turned professional and was a four time champion with the Connecticut Falcons of the International Women's Professional Softball Association, she also served as commissioner. She also played on the Ladies Professional Golfers Association Tour, finishing sixth in tournaments in 1981 and 1984. She played on the 1965 U.S. National basketball team. Joyce was elected to the National Softball Hall of Fame in 1983 and the Women's Sports Foundation Hall of Fame in 1989.
