Leading Scorer in 1972 Olympic Tournament
At the 1972 Olympics, kruize was the leading scorer in the tournament with 18 goals, a record for most goals in a single Olympic tournament, leading the Dutch to a fourth place finish. Kruize helped the Dutch team with the World Cup in 1973 in Amsterdam. Kruize led the tournament with 11 goals. He was injured for the 1976 Olympics, and competed on the Dutch team in 1984 that finished sixth. He was on the Dutch European championship team in 1983, and retired from international competition after the 1986 World Cup.
