Dexter Manley
N.F.L. All-Pro
When Manley was in his prime, he was as good a pass rusher as you will ever find.
He holds the record for most sacks as a Redskins, totalling 97.5 sacks throughout
his career, and that total puts him in the top 20 on the all-time sacks list. Manley's
most famous moment as a Redskins was knocking Cowboy's quarterback Danny White out
of the 1982 NFC Championship game, and helping lead the Redskins to a Super Bowl
that year.
Unfortunately problems with substance abuse got
Manley banned from the NFL, and plagued him until only recently. Manley is said to
have his act together and to be drug free now, in 2001. Manley also struggled with
illeteracy, and testified so in front of congress.
