McGrath won the very first tournament he entered, the 1965 Portland Open. He went on to win back-to-back P.B.A. National Championships in 1969 and '70. He was the Tour's leading money winner in 1970. McGrath won the 1973 U.S. Open and finished his career with 10 Tour titles and $238,305 in career earnings. He was elected to the P.B.A. Hall of Fame in 1988.
