Rick Monday
Two-time Major League All-Star
Monday holds the distinction of being the first baseball player ever selected in the amatuer draft when he was the number one pick of the A's in 1966. From '66 to 1984 Monday played for the A's, Cubs and Dodgers. He was an All-Star in 1968 and '78. His biggest moment was in game 5 of the 1981 National League Championship Series against the Montreal Expos. Monday's ninth inning, two-out, solo home run gave the Dodgers a 2-1 lead and sent them on to the World Series and an eventual championship.
