Christian Okoye
1989 A.F.C. Player of the Year
Okoye amassed 4,897 rushing yards in his six year NFL career, the most by any player in Chiefs history, and was dubbed the "Nigerian Nightmare" for his relentless, pounding style. He was a two-time Pro Bowler (1989 and '91) and holds team records for rushing attempts (1,246 career) and attempts in a season with 370 in 1989 when he led the NFL with 1,480 yards, 10 more than runner-up Barry Sanders. Okoye was born in Nigeria and came to the United States in 1982 to compete for Azusa Pacific University's national championship track and field program as a discus thrower.
