Oscar Robertson
Member of the Basketball Hall of Fame
While at the University of Cincinnati, Robertson led the Bearcats to two Final Fours and was selected as a territorial draft pick of the Cincinnati Royals of the N.B.A. Robertson was also a member of the 1960 U.S. Olympic Champion Basketball Team. He was the N.B.A. Rookie of the Year in 1960-'61 and won the All-Star Game M.V.P. that season. Robertson became the only player to average a triple/double for an entire season in 1961-'62 with 30.8 points per game, 11.4 assists and 12.5 rebounds. Robertson won the M.V.P. in the 1963-'64 season, but had to wait until he was traded to the Milwaukee Bucks in 1970 for his first and only championship. He teamed with Lew Alcindor to win the N.B.A. Championship in 1970. For his career, Robertson totaled 26,710 points (25.7 per game average), 9.887 assists (third all-time) and 7,801 rebounds. He was enshrined in the Hall of Fame in 1979 and was selected by E.S.P.N.'s SportsCentury as the 36th greatest athlete of the century.
