N.H.L. Single Season Record Holder for Penalty Minutes
An N.H.L. enforcer, Schultz led the league in penalty minutes in four on his nine seasons. He totaled 2,294 career penalty minutes. Led the league in 1972-'73, '73-'74 and '74-'75 for the Philadelphia Flyers and in 1977-'78 for the Los Angeles Kings and Pittsburgh Penguins. His total of 472 penalty minutes from 1974-'75 still stands as the league record. A leading member of the "Broad Street Bullies," Schultz was a member of Stanley Cup champion Flyers in 1974 and 1975. His best offensive season was 1973-'74 when he scored 20 goals and 16 assists.
