Willie Stargell
Member of the Baseball Hall of Fame
The 1979 National League co-M.V.P. with Keith Hernandez, Stargell's leadership was instrumental in the Pirates' World Series victory as he was also selected as World Series M.V.P. Stargell was an all-star seven times (1964-'66, '71-'73 and '78). He totaled 475 home runs and 1540 R.B.I. in 21 seasons, all with the Pirates. He twice led the league in home runs with 48 in 1971 and 44 in '73. In '73 he also led the league in R.B.I. with 119. His career total of 1936 strikeouts in tops all-time. He was enshrined in the Hall of Fame in 1988.
