Herschel Walker

1982 Heisman Trophy Winner

A versatile athlete, Walker led the University of Georgia to the N.C.A.A. national title in 1980 as a freshman. He won the Heisman Trophy in 1982 and then signed a pro contract with the New Jersey Generals of the United States Football League. He set U.S.F.L. records while with the Generals and then signed with the Dallas Cowboys after the collapse of the league. He led the N.F.L. in rushing while with the Cowboys with 1,514 yards and then was dealt to the Minnesota Vikings. He also played for the Eagles and Giants before returning to the Cowboys. In 12 seasons he totalled 8,225 yards rushing and 4,259 yards receiving. He also competed in the 1992 Winter Olympics in the two-man bobsled where he finished seventh teamed with Brian Shimer.
