Yary, an offensive tackle, was the Outland trophy winner in 1967 at USC and was the first pick in the 1968 N.F.L. draft by the Minnesota Vikings (Minnesota had traded Fran Tarkenton to the New York Giants for that pick). Yary was a six-time First Team All-Pro selection (1971-'76) and played in seven Pro Bowls (1971-'77). Yary played for the Vikings from 1968-'81 and the Los Angeles Rams in 1982. He was named to the N.F.L. 1970's All-Decade Team and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2001. he is also a member of the College Football Hall of Fame.
