1981 SUPERTEAMS FOOTBALL PRELIMINARY

Honolulu, Hawaii

Commentators: N/A

The Raiders jumped out to the early lead, winning the first three events including a near record in the running relay. The Eagles won the next three events to set up a decisive tug of war. However, the tug of war became mired in controversy. There were two whistles to stop the competition and the Raiders were declared the winners. However, the Eagles protested and comissioner Bob Cousy decided to have a three minute tug-off to decide the winner the following morning. The Eagles showed up, the Raiders didn't and the Eagles qualified for the Superteams final.
