1981 MEN'S PRELIMINARY #2
BASEBALL PRELIMINARY
In 1981, Preliminary rounds only had seven events with each athlete choosing 5 in which to compete. The events varied in each preliminary. This preliminary did not include the bike race, weight lifting or bowling. Schmidt won three events to capture the victory and equal his preliminary win of five years earlier. Bowling record holder Bill Buckner was not able to make the finals as he did in 1979 as three of his better events were the ones that were not included.
