1989 MEN'S PRELIMINARY #1
For the first time ever, the Superstars had a conporate sponsor as the competition was known as the "Jeep Superstars." Willie Gault won the final three events to claim the victory. New York Jets tight end Mickey Shuler had the early lead, but sprained his ankle in the obstacle course. Shuler slipped approaching the tires and his left foot hit the tire and rolled over. The rowing competition returned to the lake at Key Biscayne after being hled in Miami Harbor since 1985.
