1998 MEN'S FINAL

The Superstars returned after a three year hiatus as New York Giant safety Jason Sehorn captured the championship. However, all things were not bright. The competition did return to a 10-event competition for the first time since 1990. On the down side was the fact that the competition was held in Montego Bay, Jamaica. The facility did not have a swimming pool or a track, so some events had to be modified. The swimming event was held with a running start and finish into the bay; the bike race and half mile were held over a road course; the 100 yard dash was held in the sand; and the obstacle course was held over a field of half-grown grass with tires of differing sizes. Once again, no preliminaries were held which diminished the overall level of competition. If eventually became a two-man battle between Sehorn and Olympic Moguls champion Jonny Moseley, with Sehorn taking a 5 and 3/4 point victory.

Jason Sehorn of the New York Giants became the first Superstars champion in four years.

Jonny Moseley, Olympic Moguls Champion, won the opening event, kayaking.

Two-time champion jumped into the lad by lifting 320 pounds in weight lifting.

Sehorn emerged as the winner of the new swimming event.

Dorsey Levens of the Green Bay Packers hit two big shots late to win the basketball with 32 points.

Sehorn cruised to a victory over the one and a half mile bike race.

Sehorn (right) took another event by sneaking past Allen Johnson (middle), Herschel Walker took third.

Moseley got back into contention with a win on the jet ski.

At age 36, Herschel Walker (blue) still had enough speed to outlean Kordell Stewart (white) to win the 100 yard dash.

Allen Johnson continued a hurdler's tradition by winning the obstacle course.
