| Alexander Marinescu was first noticed world-wide when she won the Junior European Championpionship all-around gold in 1994. Standing at only 4'9, the young Marinescu possesses some of the more daring moves on the balance beam. She is coached by Benone Pereteanu, Eliza Stoica, and Stefan Gal. She trains in Bucharest's Triumph Bucharest Club. She was part of the 1995 World Championship team in Sabae. She has a dog by the name of Pichi. |

| Marinescu is an only child and is "bored" at home. She began her sporting career at age 4, as a swimmer. Coaches decided she was better suited for gymnastics, so she changed sports. She recently left her home club, Triumf Bucuresti, to train with the rest of the national team in Deva. |
