Neilson has bone cancer-Dec. 11, 1999-The Flyers coach will undergo chemotherapy, followed by a bone marrow transplant.  Neilson is optimistic the outcome will be good, and he intends to miss no games with the Flyers.

October 10th-Flyers tied Boston last night 1-1.  Recchi had a sweet goal, and Chris Therien among others played great.  Their records now 0-2-1.  Next game is Tuesday night.

Rod Brind'Amour will be out for 3-4 weeks due to a hairline fracture in his leg.

The Flyers started off their preseason with a record of 0-2.  Lindros, LeClair, Jones, Renberg and others are all nursing injuries right now, so hopefully they'll get back into the mix of things soon and turn things around.

Tragedy strikes the Flyers again, as rookie defenseman Dmitri Tertyshny, 22, is killed in a freak boating accident in Canada.  His death came shortly after the legendary Gene Hart.  He died from massive bleeding from his neck and hand.  It's an absolutely horrible thing to happen to such a nice and amazing individual.  Players remember Dmitri as being quiet, but with a great sense of humor.  His wife Paulina is 4 months pregnant with a baby boy.  My sincere condolensces go out to the family and wife of Dmitri.

July 30th, 1999-Flyers resign wingers Sandy McCarthy, 27, and Mikael Renberg, 26,  to contract extensions.

July  20th, 1999- Flyers sign winger Keith Jones to a 3 year contract extension.

July 2nd, 1999-Flyers Ron Hextall placed on waivers. 

June 27th, 1999- Flyers choose goalie Maxime Ouellet in the 1999 NHL Draft.

June 25th, 1999-Jody Hull was picked up by the Atlanta Thrashers in the Expansion Draft.  Among the Flyers who were eligable to be taken included Ron Hextall, Roman Vopat, Mikael Andersson and Chris Joseph.

Flyers' Leclair and Desjardins both are named to NHL second All-Star Team.

John LeClair wins NHL's plus/minus award with a +36.
