Walon Mercy
Height: 6’7”
Weight: 290 lbs
Finisher: Psycho Sleeper
Hometown: Griffin, Georgia
Comments:
This guy was one of the most calm wrestlers of all time, outside of the ring. He would just smile and wave at the fans, shake the hand of his opponent and the ref and get ready to wrestle without a second thought. It must have been those light Hawaiian shirts that gave him that mellow attitude. The only thing I didn’t like about Walon was his theme music, it sounded like something off a Charlie Brown television special, or something.
Career Highlights:
He first appeared on WWF television in spring of 1996 giving some of the greatest promos of all time. He spent the summer basically undefeated, beating anyone that was stupid enough to wrestle him. He once even DDTed a opponent on the arena floor during a match to get a count-out victory. He was defeated at In Your House 3 in September 1996 by Savio Vega though, but Walon didn’t let it bother him since he was always so calm. He got one of the biggest victories of 1996 when he beat Diesel via countout on WWF Superstars when Diesel went after the British Bulldog on the outside. But you knew Diesel was trying to run away from Mercy, Bulldog was just in the way of Diesel’s path to the locker room. That was his last match, about two weeks later on WWF Superstars Jim Ross said that Walon Mercy had retired from the WWF.
