Abbott, Pat and Jean
(Characters/novels)- American private detective husband and helpful wife duo created by Frances Crane. They made their debut in 1941, and the last of over 20 novels, each with a 'color' in the title, was published in 1965.

ABBOTT MYSTERIES
(US RADIO PROGRAM)- Characters based on the novels by Frances Crane. This radio mystery program ran from 1945-1946. Alice Reinheart and Julie Stevens played Jean Abbott, Pat was played by Les Tremayne and then Charles 'Chuck' Webster.

Abner, Uncle
(Character/Short stories)- Amateur detective created by Melville Davisson Post [see entry under Post]. Uncle Abner is the detective, a 'stern instrument of divine retribution,' to his nephew, who is the narrator of these short stories, which appeared between 1913-1918 before appearing in book form. The stories are set in Virginia of the 19th century.
