- Most famous as the villain Blofeld in the James Bond movie, Diamonds Are Forever (succeeding Donald Pleasance and Telly Savalas in the role). He had previously played the role of a 'good guy' in the Bond film You Only Live Twice but was quickly assassinated.
He played Mycroft Holmes in several episodes of Jeremy Brett's Granada Sherlock Holmes tv series.

The Golden Pince-Nez. First broadcast on 21 March 1994. Mycroft does not appear in the original Doyle story, but had to be written into the television script because Brett's Watson, Edward Hardwicke, was busy filming Shadowlands with Anthony Hopkins.
