Zaleski, Prince
(Character, short stories)
- Created by M. P. Shiel. 'Possibly the most erudite and remote detective in literature.'
Shiel, both narrator and author, brings him cases which he solves
in his apartment (which he leaves in only one story) a la the later Nero Wolfe.

Dorothy Sayers termed Prince Zaleski one of her favorite books, comparing the prose style to Poe's. Shiel was also a pioneer in science fiction. He wrote several novels.
