Maria's Tears and Joy
Hi, My name is Maria and I'm a cancer kid!
In Medjugorje Our Lady gave a message wHich said
"you would cry tears of joy if you knew how much I loved you"

Let me tell you about myself:
My name is Maria
I am 16 years old.
I like animals, mountains and hiking.
I am a very outdoorsy kinda girl.
I love to watch the sunrise...it is a birth of a new day.
I like to think about God then... sometimes it is then that I meditate on the Rosary.
Real people are cool, even if they argue with me.
Phony thick headed people are patience testers!
I like ice cream on a hot day.
I like swimming and amusement parks.
I dislike:liver and onions,brussel sprouts,haughty people,being late for anything.
I am pretty shy but, I am a loyal friend... no I am not a dog:)
My Online Life
I sometimes go to a Catholic room called Michael.
I go to Glenna's Garden (cancer support)
And A&R Freedom Place (alateen)
A little more about me
Right now, I am kind of bumming ... because I have (AML)Acute Myeloid Leukemia and that really bites!
My best online friends are Tina,Laure,Socrates,Jophkiel,Kiu,Aarf Rose,Gem,Todd,Bswift513 and Solartzy.
If you are a reader who is going thru chemo
I have some tips that might help you:
Try to keep things simple.
Read lots of jokes.
Insomnia goes hand in hand with cancer so
join some of chat groups and talk?type.
Before I get my chemo I meditate on the Rosary
this helps me.
try to keep your attitude in check... HARD one I know.
Read about your cancer and ask lots of questions.
If you need meds ask for them! I was afraid to ask at first.
I am Catholic and very proud of my faith.
It is this same faith that gets me thru the tough times.
My favorite saint is Anne
She is Mary's Mom.
What I hope to gain from my life is:
To touch a life like Christ and His Church has touched my heart and soul.Can't think of a better role model than Jesus or His Mom.
We have such a short time .... What are you doing with it?
All things have a reason, and a purpose.
Nothing happens without our Heavenly Father's knowledge.
I guess what I am really trying to say is:
There is hope... even when "things" seem hopeless.
I heard once, that all pain bears a gift.
I think the gift must come from being able to offer up your suffering for others.
God was really cool in figuring that one out.
Suffering has a good purpose too.
Even tho, it feels lousy.
And I think it bears a lesson too.
Sometimes many lessons.
Cancer kids will know what I am talking about here.
It is like cancer or other sickness like it, makes you think old thoughts.
The kinda lesson your not suppose to get until you are a old person.
The kewl part is.... everyone thinks you are wise.
And really all it is ... the wisdom comes from fighting the cancer.
It all comes from God.
Because he loves us soooooo much.
He prolly suffers with us.
He has a way of turning bad evil things to good.
Jesus, Mary His Mother and all the saints are awesome.
I abhor abortion.
I believe everyone has a right to be born.
Life is so precious.
From the womb to the tomb.
I believe ... my life is like a painting yet unfinished.
I pray it to be a Masterpiece to lay at Jesus feet.
Even so... my very life is not my own.
Not so with my own suffering
This I can offer up
I believe that is sex is a God-given gift to married people.
I think if people focus their attention on doing what is pleasing to God...to those they find true happiness either here or later ... in the greater reward.
There is a rainbow after the storm.
And there are miracle's amoung us...even now.
Thank God!!!!!!!!!!
I am looking forward to enjoying this time.
The cancer has taught me a lot of lessons.
Each minute counts.
I am learning to say what I feel, even if it sounds dumb.
God has given me sooooooo much.
I have learned to be grateful.
Anything done in love...is done well.
I am learning to enjoy the simple things... things I used to take for granted.
I am learning that laughing feels good... even if you are real sick.
Each one of my online friends have touched my heart.
They have helped me so much,
I thank God for all of you each day.
I wish to thank a very special lady.
She has been very supportive of me.
Allowing me to vent my feelings.
We have not always agreed on everything.
But I respect and love her very much.
She has taught me so much.
She is the kind of Catholic I wanna be.
She is a one of a kind,way cool person.

Update:
The chemo has hurt my heart valve
Maria is in surgery today (August 30, 1999)...please leave your entry in her guestbook and fill her mailbox with lots of love!!
NEW UPDATE: 4:00pm CST...Maria is out of surgery and is in recovery at this time. She did well in surgery. I will continue to post updates to this page as I receive them. Thank you all so much for your prayers and your kind words to Maria!
September 2, 1999...Maria has been communicating with me via IM through today...this morning at midnight..Maria's fever reached 104.2 If you have read her words here on this page..you all know that she is beautiful...inside and out. Please pray for this precious child....thanks...Lacy
September 2, 1999....7pm...Maria's fever is down to 100. I spoke with Maria this evening online and she reports being sore and having had a seizure during the elevated fever. She is better however through all the prayer that you continue to offer. Maria is being bombarded by Instant Messages....please refrain. She gets online to update us only. She needs her rest. Send her an email! She loves hearing from you and your concerns are much appreciated. You can get the very latest updates on Maria here anytime! Bless You all!
September 4, 1999...Maria is feeling so much better! She is chatting a lot with me online! She is still sore and trying to walk more! Keep the prayers coming!!! They are working TERRIFIC!!!
September 8,1999...Maria is sick with pnuemonia. We need for the prayers to continue and please please share this page with your friends and family.
