I don't like to brag, but...

Correction. That introductory sentence was not true. I do like to brag about certain subjects. Sorry, but you'll have to tolerate some unabashed bragging on the rest of this page. We're talking about bilingualism, and I have no choice but to brag.

I wanted to raise my kids as bilinguals, and there is no question that I did it right.

Wait. I'm not through bragging. As a result of our efforts, our children are natural, complete, and perfect bilinguals. That can be evidenced by the following issues:

• They want to do everything in both languages. This desire assures us that they will be able to be successful in their bilingualism.
• Yoni, our second son, knows how to lein using Ashkenazi and Sfardi pronunciations and Ashkenazi and Sfardi trup.
• They can all switch back and forth between Israeli Hebrew pronunciation and Ashkenaz pronunciation as well as the pronuncuation of other edot in Israel.
• They imitate British or American accents in English and other accents in Hebrew.
• They did learn sign language in both Hebrew and English and they conversed with each other in both sign languages for some time.
• They feel equally comfortable reading books in either Hebrew or English.
• They write correctly in both languages
• It was obvious that the older girls would be English teachers in a Hebrew environment
• It was obvious that they would also teach Hebrew in an English environment
• It was also obvious that they would be translators
• They accept American forms of measurement.
  • They speak about things in inches, although they prefer the more logical metric system
  • They are less comfortable talking about temperature in Fahrenheit, although the boys, who did travel abroad, manage temperature to some "degree"
• They have no noticeable accent.
• They use idiomatic Hebrew and English expressions and mannerisms
• They adjust their body language to their audience and to the origin of the audience

I'll get off my soapbox, now that I've made my point.
