The great American dream perceives success in terms of money. If I define my own success in that way, then I will never be successful in the United States, or in Israel, or in any other place in the world.
I came to this conclusion conducting an introspection based on my own psyche. It confirmed that my success was related to my Type O personality. Those with blood type O are called universal donors. They can give their blood to anybody, but they cannot accept blood from others.
A Type O personality could be defined as a person who has an ability to contribute knowledge, understanding, and skills to the world, but who has difficulty receiving compensation.
This trait will never make me rich. For this reason, I can never be successful according to the limited definition of success offered by the United States. However, I can become a success in a society that is more flexible about its definition of success.
On a more objective level, I can look at my new-found advantages of my Type O personality. A universal donor can leave behind the results of his positive traits. When I am gone, I will leave my successors with a treasure, by which they can remember me.
This series of introspections has helped me accept my own qualities and limitations. As a result, I have been able to create a lifestyle that has helped me offer a great deal to the world.
Don't get the wrong impression by the title of this page. I'm not an expert on money. To the contrary - it might be a good idea to listen to my advice about making money - and then do the opposite.
Furthermore, Israel is not the place to make money – at least not in a salaried position.
However, we don't starve. I found my niche teaching computers in Israel. Naturally, some people say that if I'm doing OK in my field in Israel, then I would have been rich if I had returned to the United States. I could have opened schools to teach computers using my own methods, and I would have had many students.
Perhaps they are right. However, I prefer to succeed in little Israel, making much less money.
Instead, I chose to remain in Israel, where I have many students, where I charge much less, and where I am far for rich.
Granted, people have said that my skills could have offered me the opportunity to be very successful in the States. They said that I could have been richer, that I could have had more clients, and that major corporations would have welcomed me in the States.
Perhaps.
Since I did find my niche, am I crazy for not moving closer to the money? Well, several people have told me so.
