You must have long term goals to keep you from being frustrated by short term failures - Charles C. Noble |
למען דעת כל עמי הארץ כי ה' הוא הא-לוקים אין עוד So that all of the nations in the world will know That Hashem is G-d And that there is no other G-d |
Let's try to analyze that Hebrew theme above and to the right of this paragraph. It may look like gibberish if you have not yet set your computer to read Hebrew.
למען דעת (Lemaan Da'at): My pursuit of knowledge is a paramount goal. I want to know how the world works, and why it works in that way. I want to know my purpose and place in the world. As a prerequisite, I need to seek an understanding of the world through the widest possible variety of printed information, documents, and materials. My collections often help me in this endeavor.
These websites document my efforts to bring together and publish my understanding of Man’s knowledge. Others are welcome to refute or correct my assumptions. I hope that my writings can serve as a basis for fruitful debate.
My study is predicated on the belief that the world was not created with discrete elements, such as Mathematics, Astronomy, Biology, or Linguistics. I believe that they all came from a single Source, and that they are all parts of the same unified whole.
Since Man has a limited ability to grasp large quantities of information, each person can become an expert in only a tiny, limited area. Individuals rarely come in contact with or understand those who study other areas. As a result, they do not see the Gestalt - the whole.
I want to develop a way to bring these parts together, as I see them. This new model will help us understand the Big Picture, and it may be the penultimate stage in Man’s study of his world.
כל עמי הארץ (Kol Amei Ha'aretz): I wish it would be otherwise, but I see myself as an עם הארץ, despite my Yeshiva training. I blame myself for not knowing more about Yiddishkeit, but I do try to make the most of my limited knowledge. No, that's not the real meaning of עם הארץ in this context, but it is applicable nonetheless.
These websites cannot and should not represent כל עמי הארץ in the world, but they do represent myself. I use the websites and forums to bring together the pieces of my own vision of the world's knowledge.
כי ה' הוא הא-לוקים (Ki Hashem Hu Ha'Elokim): This will be the subsequent stage. My project cannot be complete, even after it is refuted or corrected, until 'ה is added to its related elements. I leave this job to Torah scholars who also understand their share of the worldly elements discussed here. Their work will be a much more complete stage in understanding the world:
