The counter-education that was initiated by The Bell continues to plague children throughout their life. Children are educated by their school that times are vague or theoretical, or that they are a starting point for negotiations. They subsequently practice this behavior when they go out into the big world.

This may explain a number of societal ills:

• A wedding may be called for seven o'clock, but the bride is likely to tell her close friends when it will “really” start. That “real” time is itself often ignored. Nobody seems to mind, since the participants have been educated – from a very young age – that Seven does not mean Seven.
• A physician may leave his office during visiting hours, causing all subsequent appointments to be delayed. He does not consider this to be an ethical problem, Time itself is not an ethical issue.
• A Jew may respond to a call for a "tzenter" (tenth man for a minyan) only to find that he is the third one in the room. Each of the others also understood that he was the "tzenter." Nobody was told that he would have to waste precious time waiting for another seven "tzenters" to arrive.

Go ahead, feel free to add to that list. Now, can we begin to correct those problems, starting with the classroom?
