How to teach
a boring subject

Why is the alphabet
in that order?
Is it because of that song?
- Steven Wright

Making classes relevant can make any subject interesting.

For example, computer viruses are usually a very boring topic to teach.

However, a slide show that demonstrates some viruses and shows the damage that they can do is very exciting. At the end of the show, ask students to describe viruses that hit their own computers or those of friends, and the damage that was done.

Properly prepared as a slideshow, the most boring topic can turn into the most memorable and fascinating class of the course.

Don't overdo those slide shows, however. Save them for the most boring or critical lessons.
