While going through our lives day by day we sometimes forget that we can engender our specific unique life experiences and knowledge to our children.
Each of us has special things that could be of benefit to future generations and certainly to our children.
We raise our children, offering them the best schooling. If they study in a dorm then others give our children the benefits of their knowledge. We try to give the children quality time when they are home but it usually involves things that excite the children rather than what we can offer them.
Of course, their own issues are important. Furthermore it is important to relate to children on their own level and with things that are of interest to them.
However, don't forget what you have to offer.
Those special things may demand some introspection.
They may include particular insights, or inside information, or you have learned or see some things in a particular way. You may be able to do things with a special tool that you have developed. You may be able to understand an object in a way that others cannot understand it. You may be able to build or construct things in a way in which it is better, cheaper, or faster. You may be able to analyze a situation or a topic better than others.
You may or may not want to share this knowledge, ability, skill with the world at large. You may want to keep it for yourself and to corner the market.
However, they certainly deserve the advantage of the magnificent skills that you have developed over the course of time.
Do not succumb to their whims before they reject you.
You may tell them to keep it a secret, if you desire. That’s okay.
This implies that you may ant to delay the explanation.
The answer of course is to do it today.
Life is too short and too unpredictable. You don't know what will happen to you or your children in the future. By sharing this knowledge, skill, and abilities with your children at this early stage you will be able to assure yourself that it will be transmitted to the next generation.
Do it today. Assure yourself that your lifetime skills and knowledge will not be forgotten. Share it with your children. Let them have the best of what you have to offer. You owe it to them.
That's what this Education website is about. That's also what this series of websites is about.
