A teacher's guide
The next one

Start preparing for the next PTA meeting right away.

Start preparing a new page with information about the material that was covered. Indicate that this page begins where the previous page left off. Again, present everything in a positive light.

At the next meeting, bring along copies of the new page, some additional copies of the old page (some parents may want to refer to it) and pages with your record of comments from private meetings with parents.

Be prepared for the abusive parents who will come to that PTA meeting as well. When they arrive, pull out the page with your comments from the private meeting. Before the parent can say anything, say, "Oh, hello [parent's name]. I'm happy to see you [again]. Do you recall that at our last meeting you had suggested that we ... [tell about the problem in brief, as well as the proposed solution] in the classroom? Well I am pleased to report to you that your request was very effective. I did carry it out, and this is the result." Present it in a very positive light.

The parents will be happy and feel involved in the class, and you will have won a friend.

You will also have met the real goal of the PTA meeting - to create happy began with information about preparing for PTA meetings.
