Bashing Israel

Those who care, do.
Those who don't care,
send e-mails

With apologies to G. B. Shaw

Some people wrongly feel a need to find fault with and bash Israel. Their argument is that this is the only way to improve situations that they perceive as bad.

That is patently absurd.

Israel doesn't need more detractors, thank you. We have enough of them in the world community. We don't need people to tell us "how bad it is."

If those misguided people would really care, they would improve their local or Israeli society by themselves. Their assistance would be welcomed, and they could have made their mark in the world.

However, those who choose to air Israel's dirty laundry are sending a very different message. They are simply badmouthing Israel. They can't be bothered to really get involved. They sit back and send e-mails (or forward e-mails from others) in order to create bad publicity.

These do-badders sometimes present an excuse that someone else - the right person, such as an influential politician - may read their forwarded email and fix things up.

That simply does not work!

Indeed, how do you react when somebody tries to tell you about the important things that they believe you should do. Don't you want that person to go away?

Your e-mails create that very same ill-will among others. They just want you to go away, together with your ideas of what is wrong with Israeli society.

The spies were punished severely for their badmouthing when the Israelites were about to enter the Holy Land. Their actions are reported in the Torah so that we can learn from their mistakes, rather than repeat them.

Our Jewish and Israeli Groups have also suffered from some of this attempted Israel bashing - but it is usually rejected by the moderator before the public sees it.

This is why we created the Tova Haaretz forum. It presents the good issues in Israel. Its premise is that Israel's enemies do enough bashing, and we don't have to help them.

Where do you want to go now?
