The basic rule for entering titles is to place an initial A, An, or The at the end of the title. It is preceded by a comma and followed by a period. Hebrew has three titles that should be placed at the end:
In certain religious libraries the words שו"ת, שו"ת or שו"תים are sometimes placed in the end as well.
The reason is simple. These words appear in the beginning of all too many titles. If we write the title as it really exists, then our title listing will be meaningless.
By eliminating these words, we begin each title with a meaningful word. That makes a lot more sense for the user of the database. It is also the most likely word that will be used to search for the title of the book.
