Shelving
Color

Three considerations affect the color of the edge of the shelving units.

Brown, or a wood color, is always acceptable. However, you may want to consider other issues:

The ambience is the feeling that you may want to create when books are placed on the shelves.

The dominant colors of the surrounding books may affect the color of the surrounding area. You may want the shelves to blend in with the surrounding area.

You may want the shelves to pick up a certain color or aspect of the decor of your room. This is less common, because it draws attention to the shelves, but it could have a striking effect if you select it wisely. It's best to consult with other people before choosing this effect.

In most homes, people want to draw the attention to the books rather than to the shelves, and the edge of the shelves usually reflects this point of view.
