Teaching library skills is not the same as teaching librarianship. We will deal with the two aspects separately and differently.
Teaching library skills involves the point of view of the user. Teaching librarianship presents the point of view of the professional, who organizes, maintains, develops, and acquires materials, for the library. Both aspects have to be kept in mind simultaneously: The librarian has to keep the user in mind and assure that the materials that will be needed are available. The user has to keep the librarian abreast of changing needs, so that the librarian will be able to purchase the materials in time to make them available for the user.
