The files in this directory do not represent a manual for parenting. There are many of these available. Each manual is controversial in its own way. It usually claims to present the truth about parenting while in many cases contradicting other manuals.
Perhaps you will be able to find the one manual that does represent the truth, after all, but it would certainly be difficult.
The truth is that it is practically impossible to make a generalized guide.
Each parent is different. Each child is unique. There are always differences in environments, genes, philosophy, and other influences.
Children's expectations also differ based on their peers, their needs, their contacts, their exposure to the various media, friends, relatives, and other pressures.
This interaction creates circumstances that make it impossible for any professional to generalize what is "right" for all parents.
Worse yet - most parents have no training for their future formidable task.
Given all of these factors, it may be amazing that the human race has survived as well as it has.
Perhaps as a result we should consider the successes that do exist rather than harping on the problems.
