If the child left under the aegis or with the assistance of an established organization, then he may have certain legal protection or rights. There may also be legal ramifications regarding the child's placement in a facility or a home environment.

Although the child may have been informed of these conditions in advance, he may not have been able to make a decision, or he may have felt that things would straighten themselves out. That is not always the case, and sometimes the child becomes locked into a difficult position. The child may then feel that he cannot escape. That does not mean that the child will regret his behavior at a future date.
