It is difficult to define the concept of maturity.
Maturity is an ongoing process. You, as the parent, are more mature than your children - not because you did anything in order to achieve your maturity, but because you are older. Age and experiences do bring on a certain amount of maturity without exerting any additional effort.
Your children are less mature than you, but they are constantly experimenting. The results may be positive or negative, but they do raise the child to a level in which he knows how to handle things and how to behave in a satisfactory manner.
Thus, the concept of maturity varies according to the age. Children and adults of any age are mature or immature relative to others of their age, culture, and experience.
