Rebuking a child in the wrong way can also cause him to rebel.
The rebuke is necessary but it must be done with love.
Some children cannot accept rebuke, in which case they must be taught to accept it properly. It is important for the child to realize that sometimes he has to be told things in order to live properly within a larger society. If the child still rebels despite the love and the positive attempt from the parent, then you can at least have a clear heart, knowing that you have done your part in order to deal with your child.
