Excuses
The snake made me do it.

And Abraham reproved Avimelech because of the well of water,
which Avimelech's servants had violently taken away.

I know not who hath done this thing;
neither didst thou tell me,
neither yet heard I (of it) but today.

Right, Avimelech. Of course.

Sorry, but after reading these verses, none of us can claim credit for being real experts in making excuses.

You can just hear his whining tone. People have been making excuses that were much better than ours - way before we came on the scene.
