The terms "counseling" and "guidance" are often used interchangeably. Other terms are "working with..." or "therapy" or even "psychotherapy."
Of course, each of these terms relates to its own specific situation. Therapy and psychotherapy are not discussed in this website.
However, the other terms are used interchangeably here. They all indicate a situation in which a person helps another to resolve issues.
Some purists will justifiably argue against this use. I will agree with them, but it will not influence their use here.
