Rabbinate

There were three Rabbis in Bobroisk:
The Rav,
Rabbi Yaakov David,
Chassidishe Rabbi
Shemarya Noach,
and the Rabbi
who had been appointed by the government,
without the people's approval.
The government Rabbi knew very little,
but he dressed and acted like a chassid.
Rabbi Yaakov David said,
"There are three Rabbis in Bobroisk:
A Rabbi with a shtreimel,
a Rabbi without a shtreimel,
and a shtreimel without a Rabbi

This section will discuss the Rabbinate and why people opt to belong to the Rabbinate and become rabbis.

Many of the issues that apply to rabbis apply to cantors and gabbaim -sextons - in many larger shuls in which these are paid professions or exalted professions.
