It is wise to direct your anger towards problems - not people; to focus your energies on answers - not excuses. – William Arthur Ward |
The solution to many of our problems is the arrival of the realization that we are not responsible for solving them. – Rabbi Shraga Silverstein |
Although it is important to protect yourself by looking out for certain signs, it is also important to be aware that this technique has its limits.
It is easy to be circumspect to the point of paranoia. This happens with people who become suspicious of any sign. Paranoia can prevent you from dealing with problems that are safe.
You may feel that you are so involved with an issue that you don't know where to set your own limits. You no longer know when to let certain issues pass and when to stand up and make a case or a point. If you feel that this may be a problem, then you may want to avail yourself of the services of a confidant.
It may be preferable to err on the side of leniency than to fall into the trap of paranoia. You may want to ignore certain signs.
Here is where you will require good judgment. Granted, you may regret your action. You may err by being lenient in the one case that causes you difficulties.
However, the very knowledge that being overly suspicious could lead to paranoia might lead some people to take the necessary precautions. They will watch out for the signs that they could make a mistake, but they will not allow themselves to get carried away by them.
