Though it's important to consider the other side in any counseling session, there are almost always two sides to the issue. Although sometimes issues related to one person with fighting himself and we are not discussing those issues at this time.
Where another person is involved it is imperative to consider the thoughts, feelings, concerns, and concepts and ideas of the other side. There is no reason to make believe that you are resolving an issue as a counselor without considering the other side.
At best the other side will be miffed. When the other side hears the unfortunate decision which did not take his own ideas into account at worst you will be losing out on crucial information that would have helped you make a different decision. Had you known the answer and had you been able to clarify the issue correctly.
