Good translation does not mean that you demonstrate that you know what the original text means. That is certainly assumed, since you are a translator.
It means that you write a concise document that reflects the original in tone, register, level, and feeling.
You probably thought you knew what translation is about, since you are reading this website. However, are you sure you can distinguish among other related concepts?
