MARDI GRAS In the early spring before Easter everyone enjoys "Mardi Gras"....Cajuns ride horseback on Fat Tuesday to collected food to cook for the Fai Do-Do Gumbo. This is always the day before Ash Wednesday. This has been celebrate for years & years a custom the Cajuns brought with them from France. MARDI-GRAS

"Le Festival de La Viande Boucanee'" FESTIVAL OF SMOKE MEATS The Smoke Meats Festival is held in Ville Platte in late June every year at the Ville Platte Civic Center Grounds. It Is sponsor by the Evangeline Chapter #632 of Vietnam Veterans of America. There is a smoke meat cookoff contest to see who is the best cook. Good Food, Good Music and Good People, come join the fun!! THE COTTON FESTIVAL Is a harvest festival that is always in October. There is a street dance, fair and parade.
