WEDNESDAY EVENINGS - 7PM

BEGINNING SEPT. 15TH

The classes will guide and form our catechumens and candidates as part of the R.C.I.A. (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults), but the presentations and format will help all of us to deepen our love for and understanding of the Church.

 

The class is open to:

Inquirers, baptized and unbaptized

Those wishing to convert from another faith

Baptized but uncatechised Catholics

Catholics who want a fuller understanding of the Church and her teachings

Terms and Information Regarding Faith Formation

&

Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults or RCIA

"A thoroughly comprehensive catechesis on the truths of Catholic doctrine and moral life, aided by approved catechetical texts, is to be provided during the period of the catechumenate" (RCIA, Appendix III, #7).

Catechumens - individuals who have never been baptized in any tradition and need basic evangelization and catechesis.

Candidates - individuals seeking full communion with the Church. They fall into two groups: 1) baptized Christians seeking full communion with the Church; and 2) Catholic people who may have been baptized but who are not fully initiated, with little or no instruction in the Bible or general Christian teachings.

The primary text to be used will be the Catechism of the Catholic Church.
