For so many years I've tried to understand how can Catholics be good people and homophobics at the same time. In my point-of-view there's no Christianity in supporting the hate the Baptists are spreading against people who have not chosen to be gays. That kind of attitude makes me feel ashamed for being Catholic. I'd better consider myself just Christian. Your ideas make me feel ashamed for Catholicism in my life.
Sincerely,
Marcelo.

Dear Marcelo,
Good to receive your e-mail from Brazil! However, I do not know exactly how to reply as I am not homophobic. You would have to tell me why you concluded I am afraid of homosexuals. Like the Baptists I am concerned about the definition of marriage being changed, but that does not constitute spreading hate. Nor do I understand why what I wrote should make you ashamed of being a Catholic since the Church's teachings on homosexuality are no secret. Perhaps you or someone else could explain if I am missing something.
Prayers. God bless,
Fr. Phil Bloom
